Red Malabar Spinach-out of season
Red Malabar may not be a true spinach, but it can be used in its place and is one of our favorite plants. Not only is it a beautiful vine, it makes a great snack right off the tower and loves the heat of summer. Red Malabar's large, waxy leaves add a unique look to the tower and great flavor to dishes, raw or cooked. Malabar spinach is an excellent source of iron, calcium, Vitamin C and Vitamin A. It contains high protein and great source of phosphorus and potassium. It has great amount of antioxidants such as lutein and beta carotene. Malabar spinach is good for the heart, treats depression, helps prevent dementia, is good for pregnancy, treats cancer, and provides energy.
