Mustard is an ancient beautiful plant that's a great addition to your Tower Garden. It is easy to grow (other than cabbage looper season). You'll need some Neem Oil or Essential Oils (see our Tower Additions for bug spray). The greens are edible, the flowers attractive, and if the seeds are allowed to mature, there will be plenty to gather to replant. Mustard is a bitter green so cooking them are the best option for them. When cooked, the bitterness is cooked out and a deep, rich flavor emerges that is delicious in stir fries or soups. The leaves have spikes on the back so be careful (they will be cooked out). Mustard is an excellent source of minerals including potassium, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorous. It is also good for fiber, and contains vitamins A, K, C, and B9. This plant prefers cooler temperatures, but in the tower it can be grown just about year round.
