Frisee (Cichorium endivia frisee) is a type of endive and is in the chicory family. It is also known as curly endive. Frisee is slightly bitter, but sweeter than regular endive. It can be used in salads or can be cooked. Frisee's leaves are frilled and make a pretty texture addition to your dishes. This green is an excellent source (about 1/3 of the RDA) of folic acid, vitamin A and vitamin C. Frisee lettuce is also a good source of vitamin K, and manganese. 


This green likes cooler temperatures, but does not grow well over 85 degrees.
